Hello, I am Gail Barwick, Nurse Manager for the 8th floor Lung and Gastrointestinal Centers. I am a registered nurse with over 25 years of experience. I obtained my nursing diploma from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing, my BSN from Webster University, and a Master’s in Nursing from Central Methodist University. The focus of my Master’s degree is Clinical Nurse Leadership and I am certified as a CNL. During my nursing career, I have worked at BJH for 17 years in the Surgical Intensive Care and the Care Management Department. The last 8 years, I have been at St. Anthony’s Medical Center, working as the Director for the deGreeff Hospice House. I have joined the Washington University team as of November 12, 2012 and I am so excited to be here.
I was born and raised in St. Louis and grew up in the city near Carondolet Park. I have been married to my husband, Steve for 22 years and we have two children, Matthew, 19, and Gabryelle, 18. I have a third “adopted” daughter, Amy, who is 26 years old. Amy is my niece but my sister passed away from Melanoma when she was younger and I have served as a surrogate every since. I am very proud of all three of them! My hobbies include movies, reading, spending time with family (especially my children). My husband and I are best friends and love to travel.
